WHO WE ARE

Action Trauma is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to changing lives for the better by promoting awareness of Trauma and Trauma Recovery throughout the World. It is not an illness – it is an injury which can be healed. We create and run large scale international and local events addressing all aspects of trauma, anxiety and stress, along with recovery from the health problems, depressions and addictions which they cause.

Trauma is a world pandemic, but together we can ‘Be the Change’ and bring hope, recovery, resilience and healing to a world that is hurting.

THE HISTORY

Action Trauma was founded by Clive Corry in memory of his late wife, Gillian. His vision is to spread the word and make Belfast a trauma information hub, driving research, improving understanding and disseminating information on every aspect of trauma.

MEET THE TEAM

Clive Corry, Director and Founder

Clive is a Director of Action Trauma which he founded in 2016 in memory of his late wife, Gillian. As a businessman, trained in Sales and Marketing, he realised that he could deploy these skills to promote a greater awareness of psychological trauma, its causes, effects and treatment, to improve the lives of others. He built Action Trauma on the foundations of love, understanding and compassion. He believes that the lessons learned from Belfast, as one of the world’s ‘trauma cities’, can be used to help others. He likes to think that out of all tragedies and sadness can come recovery, healing and improved quality of life.

Brian Corry, Director

Brian is a Director of Action Trauma Ltd with a strong and successful background in running events and exhibitions, as a CEO, throughout Ireland. Brian has a keen interest in Trauma Recovery and uses his technical and business experience to help Action Trauma run events throughout the year to help raise awareness of trauma modalities amongst frontline professionals.

Brian is an active and practical person outdoors and indoors. He enjoys the challenges which live events regularly throw up!

Mark Duffin, Director

Mark is a Director of Action Trauma. As Sales Director of Selfbuild Ireland for many years, he provides valuable input to the human relations and strategic planning of Action Trauma. With his experience of event sales and marketing, these skills are well utilised in the new virtual world that Action Trauma has entered as a result of the Covid-effect. Mark is a man of great compassion and understanding and these traits lend themselves to the mission of the company.

Karen Hamilton, Manager

Karen is the Manager at Action Trauma.  She manages the daily operations and is key to the planning of all Action Trauma events. Karen communicates regularly with local and international organisations who exist to help promote trauma recovery throughout the world.  Karen is passionate about her work at Action Trauma and loves pulling together and coordinating a great team to make a difference locally and internationally.

Karen keeps fit and is mum to three girls with very busy diaries and this keeps her very busy outside of work.

Claire Speers, Sales and Events Executive

Claire is experienced in sales, marketing and business development. With a track record of building and developing client relationships and partnerships. With a high level of experience in all aspects of client management, Claire recognises the importance of quality customer care through personal interactions.  Claire has recently started with Action Trauma and brings a wealth of knowledge from within the charity and voluntary sector. Claire enjoys good ‘craic’ with friends old and new.

Ciara Bradley, Marketing Executive

Ciara is a Marketing Executive at Action Trauma. Ciara’s role majors on the marketing of upcoming events, generating social media engagement and increasing brand awareness of Action Trauma throughout the UK and worldwide.

Ciara is a recent Marketing graduate from Ulster University.  Following graduation, Ciara decided to take some time out to travel the world, meet new people and experience new cultures. She travelled around Vietnam, Singapore, New Zealand and Australia before returning home to start building her career in Marketing.

Bridget Madden, Events Executive

Bridget is an Event Coordinator at Action Trauma, focussing on all events, but mainly on the Young Hearts and Minds Conference. Bridget has been a member of the Action Trauma team since Feb 2020. She has a strong passion for creating and managing events.  She is a fully qualified Irish Dance Instructor (TCRG) and loves to dance in her spare time.

Previously, Bridget was a professional dancer and choreographer for 10 years, having toured worldwide to over 25 countries. The transition into coordinating events was a natural shift for her and she is very excited to be part of the team raising awareness of trauma.

Ace, Office Dog

Ace is a therapy dog and company mascot who joined Action Trauma in 2018. Ace stands for Adverse Childhood Experiences. His early life was spent in Larne with a young family of Portuguese immigrants. He brings this multicultural experience of working with young children to his role of calming and soothing everyone he meets.

His soft, kind, brown eyes and friendly manner endear him to those who may feel anxious or stressed and he willingly offers his silky, pliable ears for extra healing. Ace’s owner, Clive, finds his boundless enthusiasm and ‘can do’ attitude very uplifting and motivating – urging the whole team forward in their mission.
